A chakra is a spiritual concept that refers to a spinning wheel or circle of energy in the body that is thought to affect a person's physical and emotional well-being. The word "chakra" comes from Sanskrit and means "wheel" or "cycle". Chakras are associated with specific organs, nerve bundles, and areas of the body that are thought to affect one's mental, emotional, and spiritual state. When chakras are in balance, it's believed that life energy can flow through them, allowing the body to function at its best.
Crystals can amplify, absorb, and transmit energy and promote healing on our energetic and physical body. But this effect cannot as of yet be measured by science (much like Reiki energy) though the effects and affects can be noticed . During a treatment session, a healer may place various stones or crystals on your body aligned with different chakra (energy centers in the body) points, roughly in the regions above the head, on the forehead, on the throat, on the chest, on the stomach, on the gut, and on the tailbone area. The stones used and their positioning may be chosen for specific purposes and energy directions.
